Virginia Republican Senator George Allen gave a concession speech in Alexandria on November 9th, 2006. By electing to forgo a recount in the close race, Allen conceded the election to Democrat Jim Webb, giving the Democrats control of the U.S. Senate for the first time in twelve years.
