Benjamin Reed and a 10mm lens. An experiment in perspective. I could see this being cool to illustrate a crazy rock musician or something.

Tariq Kahn

Kahn left Pakistan six years ago bound for America, the first person from his village near Peshawar to ever do so. At 18 years old, he landed in West Virginia, to face an unfamiliar culture alone. Since then, he has found a good job at a convenience store, formed strong bonds with new friends and the Muslim community, and feels at home in Fredericksburg.

While struggling to hold onto his Pakistani identity, Kahn feels he’s slowly becoming an American. He’s a big college football fan, loves fast food, and has become a car junkie. With his schooling wrapping up, and his future wife still in Pakistan, he questions weather to go back to his roots or settle down in middle America. “I love this country and how welcoming it is. It’s a wonderful feeling I have here, I have friends from all walks of life, so I don’t know if I could ever leave.”

Here’s a few pictures I did as part of a story about Kahn. These ones are centered on his faith.

I was in Panama City for a few days on business. Although I didn’t get a chance to shoot much here’s a few snaps of the skyline.
